Rest in Peace, Patricia Neal

Yesterday, the 8th of August, 2010, Academy Award-winning actress Patricia Neal died at the age of 84 in Massachusetts after losing her battle to lung cancer. Patricia was born on January 20, 1926 in Kentucky. She was raised in Tennessee and attended Northwestern University.

In 1949, Patricia had a starring role in "The Fountainhead." In 1951, she played war widow and single mother, Helen Benson in the infamous science fiction masterpiece, "The Day The Earth Stood Still." This role was probably one of Patricia's most famous projects before her best actress-winning performance in 1963's "Hud." Patricia starred many films throughout her impressive career, including the iconic 1961 classic, "Breakfast at Tiffany's."

I, for one, will always treasure Patricia as Helen Benson in "The Day The Earth Stood Still." It is one my favorite all-time movies. I am sad Patricia is gone but I know her memory will forever live on in the roles she performed so wonderfully.

Rest in Peace, Patricia. I miss you already.
