Today's Vintage Look

This is my outfit today. I am wearing a 1930s rayon repro dress from Tramp Clothing. I bought it from Red Dress Shoppe online about 4 years ago. I am also wearing a a pair of 1940s repro wedges from Ayers Allen. I did not feel like wearing heels today due to the rain. I have no idea why I look so serious. I am in a good mood today! Really!
Here is an upclose look at the dress' detail. It is has a black background, white flowers, and touches of green.  The upper back of the bodice has a keyhole design and there is a waist tie (ties in the back like an apron).

The green moonglow necklace and silvertone and crystal earrings are both 1950s vintage. I bought the necklace in Lower Manhattan in 2007 and the earrings were found in a antique mall in Deerfield, Florida. I paid 7 dollars for the earrings and the necklace was around 30 USD.

My hair is in rolls again today. I have to wear a scarf when venturing outside because the rain refuses to go away!

  1. Adorable! My work look is so blah lately that I havent taken any photos. I need to go through my closet badly. I never know what to wear in the mornings!

  2. Thank you, Holly! I wanted to wear my black suede Stuart Weitzman 1940s-esque platforms but the rain had other plans. I opted for the wedges instead. I, too, had trouble figuring out what to wear today. Some days are harder it seems when it comes to deciding which look to pick. I am a technical writer for a government contractor but my hubby is the boss and I do not have to meet clients so I get to wear basically what I want.

Now, if there is a big meeting or conference, I have to wear a business suit. I usually opt for pants since I have tattoos on both ankles. Now, when I have to dress corporate, that is when I have the most difficulty figuring out what to wear. My closet is full of vintage blouses and I sometimes have to to Gap or Ann Taylor Loft to get a plain white blouse. The hair is the hardest! I cannot do rolls so I usually put on a headband (zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! boring!)

  6. Lovely dress. I'll admit that I actually like blouses from Ann Taylor Loft. Sometimes they have pretty silk ones that look very vintage-y!

  7. Thank you, Atomic Mama! My vintage clothing has taken at least 4 years to build. Mostly everything is from eBay or Etsy with a few repro pieces here and there. Lately, Etsy has been amazing for finding vintage at low prices! I recently bought a 50s, plaid house coat in pristine condition for 15 bucks! It looks like it was barely, if ever, worn!

  8. Thanks, Clare! It does seem like I have " two personalties" at times when it comes to my look! I have my usual vintage style and working out/running look! I also cannot ever see myself decked out in vintage at the gym!

  9. Thank you, La Dama! I wish I could find the company that makes my dress. I bought the dress about 4 years ago and I would love to have the same style in a solid color. The shoes are swing dancing wedges made by Aris Allen.

  10. Crafty Doll,

Thanks! You are so right about Ann Taylor Loft. I will occasionally find a cute chiffon blouse there from time to time. I once found a black and white polka dot blouse with a ruffle placket. I wore it to death! I wanted another one but I guess it was a one-time design. I also like their pencil skirts. Ann Taylor is also nice but expensive!
