Here is Dad (middle) and two friends, circa 1958/1959, wearing their Norwegian Defence Force/Coastal Artillery uniforms.
To this day, all Norwegian males must join the NDF (Norwegian Defence Force) when they turn 18. They are also required to serve at least two years.
My Dad has some cool stories from his time he served his country. He emigrated to the United States in 1965 and became a US citizen in the late 70s. My father says he was born in Norway and he is proud to be an American.
